The X-Men Family Tree

The X-Men Family

by Tal

Since its first comic book release, the X-Men franchise has grown to include a multitude of characters, many with complex backgrounds that intermingle with those of other X-Men. For those who haven't been following X-Men history religiously, these relationships can seem very complicated. Some mutants are tied by family relation while other have dated, are married to, or are the arch nemesis of other mutants. Some mutants have even been cloned, to make matters more complicated. To answer your questions, here is a complete “family tree” of sorts for the X-Men.

Cyberauthoritarianism 101

One principle that underpins our penal laws is that of “legality,” i.e., for an act to be considered criminal, it must be defined by a statute to be a crime. First year law students have this latin phrase drilled into them within the first week of law school—nullum crimen nulla poena sine lege, loosely translated as “there is no crime where there is no law defining the act to be a crime.”

Gay Marvel Superhero Plans to Tie the Knot

Gay Marvel Superhero Plans to Tie the Knot: Marvel Comic’s made a splash  in 1992 when one of its beloved charters declared “I am gay.” Twenty years later – in “Astonishing X-Men,” issue 50 set to hit stores on Wednesday —  Northstar will propose to  longtime boyfriend Kyle. The two are set to marry...

Northstar (Jean-Paul Beaubier) is a fictional character, a superhero who appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is the twin brother ofAurora. Through his mutation, Northstar gains superhuman powers, which he uses for the betterment of society. Taiwan city to offer dog poop lottery

New Taipei City, which surrounds the capital, will in July offer residents who collect canines' waste the chance to enter a lucky draw, the United Evening News newspaper reported Saturday.
Those taking part in the scheme will be given one lottery ticket in exchange for the dog waste they collect for a chance to enter the draw, which has a top prize of a gold ingot worth $2,000, it said.
The scheme ran for the first time last year, and proved a success attracting more than 20,000 participants.

Turntable Rider Is Half Bicycle, Half DJ Controller

Bike-sharing service Cogoo has created a system called Turntable Rider that transforms a BMX bicycle into an elaborate MIDI controller.

The
system features a fader box that can be attached to the handlebars, a jog wheel stick attached to the bike’s wheel valve and two handbrake sound pads. These controls communicate wirelessly (using Bluetooth) with a computer running DJ software Traktor to modify the tracks being played.
The system was developed in a collaboration between professional BMX rider Kotaro Tanaka, turntablist DJ Baku and interactive artist Toshiyuki Sugai. According to the team, the aim was to create a system that “mixes well with street culture and is fun to play.” DJ Baku and Kotaro Tanaka have created an album of BMX-controlled music, which they are soon to release on iTunes. They will also be performing live with the bike at the Kaikoo Popwave Festival in Tokyo on Apr. 21.
